- There are a lot of formulas (and reference tables) for calculating your ideal weight, but many are old and none of them are perfect. Use common sense when deciding a healthy weight range for you.
- This tool uses an Ideal Weight formula created by Dr. G.J. Hamwi that first appeared in a book by the American Diabetes Association in 1964. It's still considered to be a good starting point for determining a healthy weight.
